GPS Field Technician

Hiring GPS Field Technicians!

J. F. Edwards Construction Company, an electrical contractor located in Geneseo, IL. We are searching for full time GPS Technicians to work in the field on wind farm projects throughout the central United States! This is a 100% travel position.

We are looking for individuals with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Surveying Engineering, Geology, or Geography with training and experience in GPS to work on wind farm projects in various locations throughout the central United States. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 1 year of GPS experience, strong computer skills, and strong communication skills to interface with land-owners as well as contractor crews.

The GPS Technician must be self-motivated and have an aggressive work ethic; should be able to handle high-pressure situations, long hours (6 day work week), extended overnight travel (up to 6 months) to any of our job sites with monthly rotations, inclement weather and rough terrain at wind farm job sites. This is a 100% travel position.

The GPS Technician will be responsible for layout and staking of proposed trench routes from DXF files and will be responsible for As-Built GPS’ing of actual trench routes, drain tile repair locations, underground splice locations, junction box and transformer locations and related QC/QA documentation. Experience with LEICA GPS equipment a plus.
